Whilst 2016 saw the first ever Oslo X Games, it’s a wonder why Oslo has not been the host before. The people of Norway live and breath winter sports and Oslo has resorts that are easily accesible and there are no shortage of potential spectators. Both the pipe and big air set ups were near flawless and it was obvious that X Games and Oslo had pulled out all the stops to make the event run smoothly. Here is what caught our attention whilst we were there.
- Christy Prior proving she is not only incredible on rails and spinning on jumps. Her methods are one of the best out there.
- Stephan Maurer is no stranger to snowboard contests but nowadays finds himself behind the lens than infront of it. Maurer showed during the Laax Open that he’s stil got the skills, as he poached the mens pipe finals.
- Christian Haller was going one of the biggest in qualies but couldn’t manage to hold down a solid run good enough for finals.
- Love him or not, there is no denying that Ipod can shred.
- Having a camera in your face, seconds after you drop out on an event can’t be a great situation but it’s a part of the job and Hitsch takes it all into his stride.
- Danny Davis with his now iconic switch methods into the sunshine. Just check out the shape of the board he was riding too, Danny is a joy to watch live.
- Cheryl Maas said she’s been trying to win X Games for 10 years. She finally did it and in front of her partner and two children, what could be sweeter than that?
- For a while it was always mentioned that Louie Vito struggled with amplitude. Well he doesn’t any more and his style at Oslo was on point.
- More tense camera waiting moments, this time with Christy Prior
- Danny Davis appearing from the metal with this slash
- Ryan here is in charge of making sure all of your favourite riders boards are in top shape. Ryan always seems to be stoked and he is one of the most respected technicians out there.
