Hintertux looks banging.
Hintertux, 2 to 5 October 2014. Park shaper Wille Kaufmann cannot remember the conditions ever being as good for the Opening as they are this year. The cold summer had its advantage: For this year, the Betterpark on the Hintertux Glacier has been completely rebuilt and extended. For the Opening’s tenth anniversary it will shine in all its glory for the first time – and it is not just catering for the pros: Riders of all levels will be able to improve their snowboarding in the all-new Betterpark. Let’s draw the line under the summer and welcome the upcoming winter!
The so-called small line gets you excited for winter. Once you master it, you can move on to the medium line. AMs and Pros can warm up on the large line before tackling the XL tables. The jib line has been completely revamped: It now offers jib fun over more than one kilometer!
Opening shaper Wille Kaufmann promises a total of 30 jibs, jumps of all sizes and a few more special obstacles: “This year, the park in Hintertux is most likely the biggest park in Austria – and we already offer it at the beginning of winter in top condition! This is probably the greatest gift to all visitors of the Opening.”
The organizers expect a massive lineup of international pros, who will prepare for the upcoming season in perfect conditions. Pro line will open for Friday
The Opening’s birthday will also be celebrated in the valley! Already on Thursday, 2 October things kick off at 9pm at the new PapperlaPUB (the former Tux1) in Hintertux. DJ BRX and DJ Mu will provide the perfect sound for the Warm Up Party. Friday will see the video premiere of the new Pirates flick “Perceptions”. Afterwards not one but three parties will take place in Tux: The Shred Warm Up Party in the Kleine Tenne, the Pirates Party at the Bergfriedalm and the Capita Party at the Gletscherspalte, where Capita will show their current movie “Stay Bad Ass”. Last but not least the birthday celebrations will reach its climax on Saturday night at the Hohenhaus Tenne: Main act in the tent is none less than Marten Hørger, who is considered one of the best current electro and breakbeat DJs. In the Tenne itself Austria’s number one MC Average and FM4 DJ Phekt will bro down together with Opening resident DJ NLP as well as other acts, among them DJ Socom from London.
